Brand Reveal Event: Our milestone towards our 10th Year Anniversary

MIJ Special Education Hub has been in existence for the past 9 years. As we look towards celebrating our 10th year anniversary in 2021, we went to our drawing board and had multiple discussions internally to think of ways on how to improve the organisation to further impact our Special Needs community.

We came to realise that many out there were not aware of our school and the other entities we have created for the development of the individuals with Special needs throughout their life journey. We wanted to ascertain the cohesiveness between the hub, the cafe (Ashraf’s Cafe) and the retail arm (Inspo).

As such, we decided to rebrand. After months of hardwork, we redefined our purpose, objectives and organisation’s structure. MIJ Special Education Hub will be known as MIJ Hub moving forward. To commemorate this milestone, we had our brand reveal event the end of last month.

As we rebranded, our brand colours, uniforms and logos changed. The logos are inspired by blocks and geometrical shapes. Squares and rectangles feel solid and stable while circles are more flexible and eternal. We cut the shapes into pieces and realign them to form letters that spell MIJ.

The aim is to demonstrate how blocks can be seen in different ways and to showcase a form of perpetuity. Block building helps an individual with special needs to engage with others instead of being by themselves. It is a powerful way of building social skills and teamwork among individuals with special needs.

Looking at the logo entirely, the letter ‘j’ symbolizes the caregivers or teachers embracing the individuals with special needs; the letter ‘i’, assuring them that the hub is a safe environment to learn, gain experience, and also to express themselves.

We were honoured to have SouthEast CDC Mayor Fahmi Aliman, Mr Amrin Amin and other stakeholders to grace our event. We had dikir barat performances by our students who are undergoing the Work Readiness Adult Programme, a tour around our hub and some light refreshments in the cafe.

Through this rebranding, we hope to inject a new sense of vigor, create identification and a deeper brand awareness. With the overwhelming support we have received from all of you this past years, we will continue to stay true to our core values.

Credits to Neu Entity who has been our go to for all our rebranding activities.
